Q: Why can I only sign in with my phone number?

A: Using your phone number is one of the most secure and reliable ways to verify your identity. It helps us keep fake accounts and catfishing to a minimum, making the community safer and more authentic for everyone.

 

Q: What if I change my phone number?

A: Email us at admin@joinrendez.com and we’ll help with changing the phone number on your account.

 

Q: Why is the app only for users 18+?

A: To help ensure a safer and more responsible environment, our app is designed exclusively for adults. Because it connects people around real-life social events and networking opportunities, we require all users to be 18+.

 

Q: Do I have to use my real name?

A: Nope! You can choose to use your real name or get creative with a username that feels right for you. It’s all about how you want to express yourself while connecting with others.

 

Q: Why is the profile made only of hashtags?

A: Writing a bio can be awkward and let’s be honest, most people either overthink it or skip it entirely. Hashtags make it simple. They’re quick to choose, easy to update, and help you express who you are without the guesswork. Plus, they’re powerful. Hashtags make it easy to filter events, locations, and people by shared interests, so you can find your crowd faster. No mysterious algorithms; just a clear, 1-to-1 way to connect with the right communities.

 

Q: How many hashtags can I add to my profile?

A: You can add as many hashtags as you’d like; there’s no limit. Whether you want to express your hobbies, passions, or unique personality traits, feel free to include as many as you think reflect who you are.

 

Q: How do I delete a hashtag from my profile?

A: Go to the edit screen and press and hold to delete a hashtag. Easy and quick!

 

Q: Why are there no photos in profiles?

A: We designed profiles without photos to prioritize authenticity, privacy, and real connection. By focusing on shared interests and personality traits, not appearances, you’re more likely to meet people who truly align with you, whether it’s for friendships, collaborations, or unforgettable nights out.

Want to share what you look like? You can! Our photo swap option in messages lets you exchange pics when you’re ready, cutting down on outdated photos and helping prevent catfishing.

To add a personal touch, you can also choose an emoji that represents you on your profile. It’s a simple, fun way to express yourself without giving too much away.

 

 

Events:

 

Q: Why do I have to mark 'Interested' in an event to message others who are also interested?

A: Marking yourself as Interested shows you're genuinely considering going. It’s a simple way to signal that you're open to connecting and possibly making plans. This helps keep conversations relevant and intentional, making it easier to coordinate meetups with people who are actually planning to be there, not just browsing.

 

Q: How do I connect with someone after an event is over?

A: If there is someone that you think you would like to stay connected to, send them a message or add them to your network before the event ends. Once an event is over, it disappears from the app, along with the chance to connect through it. (Until the next event!)

Live Map:

 

Q: Can I check into any location on the Live Map?

A: You can check into any location, as long as you’re nearby. To keep things real and in-the-moment, check-ins are only available within a 0.5-mile radius. Once you’re checked in, you’ll be able to see and message other users who are also checked in at that spot. It’s a great way to connect with people who are actually there, not just scrolling from home.

 

Q: What’s the difference between Live Map check-ins and events?

A: Events are for planned gatherings. You mark yourself as interested ahead of time and know who else is going.

 

Live Map check-ins, on the other hand, are for discovering what’s happening right now, wherever people are gathering. Whether you’re at a museum, concert, theme park, coffee shop, or just exploring the city, checking in within a 0.5-mile radius lets you see and message others who are there too. It’s a real-time way to connect with people around you; no planning needed, just presence.

 

 

Looking at other members’s profiles:

 

Q: Why are some hashtags green and others orange on other members’ profiles?

A: Green hashtags are the ones you have in common; shared interests, hobbies, and more! Orange hashtags are ones they’ve added that you haven’t. It’s a quick way to see what you already align on and what might be new to you. Either way, it’s all about making meaningful connections.

If one of their orange hashtags catches your eye, just tap the + next to an orange hashtag to quickly add it to your own profile. It’s an easy way to add new interests and expand your network.

 

Q: Why is there no conversation feed or group messaging?

A: Simple! We’re here to get people off their phones and into real life. No endless feeds, no bots, no drama. By keeping things one-on-one, we reduce noise and encourage genuine, in-person engagement. This isn’t about scrolling. It’s about showing up.

 

Q: Can I block someone?

A: Yes! If someone is making you uncomfortable or you simply want to stop interacting, you can block them anytime. Blocking prevents them from messaging or seeing your profile.

 

If you encounter inappropriate behavior or something against our guidelines, you can also report the user. Our team reviews reports promptly to help keep the community safe.
