1. Scope of this Policy

Thank you for using RENDEZ, owned and operated by NTRSCTN, Inc. (referred to as "RENDEZ," "us," "our," or "we"). We are committed to respecting your privacy and have established this Privacy Policy to inform users of our website and mobile application about what personal information we collect, and how we use, share, and protect it. If you have questions regarding this Policy or our privacy practices, please see the Contact Us section below.

2. Agreement to Terms

By using the RENDEZ website and mobile application (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Services immediately and do not provide us with any personally identifiable information.

3. Effective Date and Changes to this Policy

This Privacy Policy is effective as of the date above and will remain in effect until superseded by a new version. We may update this Policy at our discretion. The most recent version will always be reflected by the "Effective" date at the top of this page. In the event of a material change, we will notify you via a prominent notice through the Services or by email to the address associated with your account. Your continued use of the Services following any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.

4. The Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

Information You Provide Directly

  • Personal identifiers: first and last name, phone number, optional email address, alias/screen name, and correspondence with us. Authentication is handled via phone number verification — RENDEZ does not create or store passwords.

  • Personal characteristics and interests: any hashtags you select or create, including hobbies, interests, physical characteristics, education, relationship status, and dietary preferences. Users may also voluntarily add hashtags that reflect sensitive characteristics, including but not limited to disability status, race or ethnicity, religion, neurodivergence, or health conditions. This information is self-disclosed entirely at the user’s discretion and is never solicited by RENDEZ. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond displaying it on your profile as you have chosen. Where you add a brand or product hashtag to your profile (for example, #adidas), please be aware that aggregate, de-identified insights about users who share that interest may be shared with or sold to the relevant brand or its partners, as described in Section 8. No information that identifies you personally is ever included in such reports.

  • Professional or employment-related information: title or employer, if voluntarily provided.

  • Visual information: photos you upload through the photo-swap feature.

  • Survey information: responses to forms, surveys, or questionnaires you complete.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Geolocation data: We collect your precise real-time location when you use location-based features, and your location at the time of check-in. Location is used to show nearby users and content, and to personalize your experience. You can control location permissions through your device settings.

  • Device and network information: IP address, unique device identifiers, operating system, browser type, and language.

  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, search history within the app, and interaction logs, collected via analytics and crash-reporting tools.

You are not required to provide all information described above, but certain features, such as locating nearby connections after check-in, will not be available without it.

5. Cookies and Device Information

Our website uses the following limited categories of cookies:

  • Strictly Necessary Cookies: Required for the operation of the website, such as enabling you to log in to secure areas. These are session cookies and are erased when you close your browser.

  • Analytical/Performance Cookies: Help us understand how users navigate the website (e.g., pages visited, time on page, location). This helps us improve the Services.

You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings (typically under "Help" or "Internet Options"). Disabling certain cookies may limit access to some features.

The app uses the following SDK-based tools for analytics and diagnostics:

  • Firebase / Crashlytics (Google): Crash reporting and app diagnostics.

  • Firebase Authentication (Google): SMS-based identity verification.

  • Sentry: Error tracking and performance monitoring.

  • CloudWatch (AWS): Infrastructure monitoring and logging.

  • Mixpanel: Product analytics to understand how users interact with the app.

  • AppsFlyer: Mobile attribution and marketing analytics.

We also use the following infrastructure and third-party service providers:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): Cloud hosting and data storage.

  • Google Places API: Location search and mapping features.

  • Mapbox: In-app maps and location visualization.

  • Agora: Real-time voice and video communication features.

  • GitHub: Source code management.

6. Children's Privacy

The Services are not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 is using the Services without authorization, please contact us immediately as described in the Contact Us section below.

7. How We Use Your Personal Information

We use your personal information to:

  • Create and manage your account and our relationship with you.

  • Provide and personalize the Services, including displaying nearby users and content based on your location.

  • Respond to your inquiries, complaints, and feedback.

  • Verify your identity and secure access to your account (including via Firebase/Google SMS verification).

  • Send push notifications relevant to your use of the Services.

  • Analyze usage patterns to improve app performance and user experience.

  • Detect security incidents and protect against fraudulent, malicious, or illegal activity.

  • Generate aggregated, de-identified statistical data for internal product insights.

  • Comply with applicable legal obligations.

8. How We Share Your Personal Information

We may share your personal information with the following categories of third parties:

  • Other users: Your profile (including your chosen username and interests) may be visible to other RENDEZ members when you check in or mark yourself as interested in an event. RENDEZ does not display profile photos — your username may be any name you choose and does not need to reflect your real name. Photos are only shared between two users who mutually agree to a photo swap when planning to meet at an event. Photo swaps are private and visible only to the two users involved.

  • Service providers: Companies that help us operate the Services, including cloud hosting (AWS) and communication (Firebase/Google).

    • MOBILE MESSAGING COMPLIANCE: By providing your mobile phone number and opting in through the RENDEZ application, you consent to receive transactional SMS messages for account verification and login authentication purposes. These messages are sent only when requested by you. NTRSCTN, Inc. will not share, sell, or rent your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in consent data with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your phone number is used solely for authentication, account security, and service-related communications.

  • These providers are contractually bound to use your data only to perform services on our behalf.

  • Professional advisers: Legal, tax, audit, and compliance professionals, as necessary.

  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or other corporate transaction, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

  • Law enforcement and legal process: Government bodies or dispute resolution organizations, when required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of users.

We may share or sell de-identified or aggregated data with business partners, event partners, venue partners, brand partners, researchers, or other third parties. One example of this practice is audience reports we may provide to venue and event partners, which contain aggregate counts and breakdowns of event interest and check-in activity. These reports may include aggregate demographic information (such as age ranges and gender distribution) and aggregate interest data drawn exclusively from the following profile categories: Professional, Education, Work History, Food & Beverages, Entertainment, Travel & Places, Fitness & Hobbies, and Animal Lover. Reports shared with partners are reviewed and filtered before sharing to ensure only appropriate aggregate data is disclosed. The following profile categories are always excluded from partner reports: General Info, About Me, and any hashtags reflecting sensitive personal characteristics such as disability status, race or ethnicity, religion, neurodivergence, or health conditions. To further protect against re-identification, demographic or interest breakdowns are suppressed in any category where fewer than five users are represented. A second example of this practice is brand-specific audience insights. Where users have voluntarily added a brand or product hashtag to their profile (for example, #adidas), RENDEZ may share or sell aggregate, de-identified insights about users who have added that hashtag — such as their count, general interest categories, and demographic distribution — with the relevant brand or its authorized partners. The same minimum group size threshold and sensitive category exclusions described above apply to brand insights reports. De-identified data does not contain information that can reasonably be used to identify you — including your name, phone number, or email address — and we maintain technical and organizational safeguards designed to prevent re-identification. We contractually prohibit all recipients of de-identified data from attempting to re-identify any individual from that data. If you wish to opt out of the potential sale or sharing of de-identified data derived from your usage, you may do so by contacting us at admin@joinrendez.com.

9. Your Privacy Choices

Marketing communications: You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time. Note: You cannot opt out of transactional SMS identity verification messages while your account is active, as these are required for secure login.

SMS Terms: Message frequency varies based on your login activity. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP, which will prevent you from logging into the app. For assistance, reply HELP.

Location: You can disable location access at any time through your device settings. Note that some features require location to function.

Account deletion: You can delete your account directly within the app. When you delete your account, your personal information is permanently and immediately deleted from all active systems. This process is irreversible — your data is not recoverable once deletion is initiated. Please note that due to the nature of cloud infrastructure, residual copies may persist in encrypted backup systems for up to 30 days before being fully purged. Note that deleting your account is permanent — you cannot reactivate a previous account, but you can create a new one using your phone number.

Data access and correction: You can update your profile, hashtags, and other personal information directly within the app at any time.

10. How We Store and Safeguard Your Personal Information

We maintain reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. Access to your data is restricted to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis. Your data is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure.

We retain your personal information for the duration that your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal information is permanently and immediately deleted from all active systems as part of the account deletion workflow. This includes data held by our service providers, who are contractually required to delete your data upon account deletion. Once initiated, deletion is irreversible and your data is not recoverable. Please note that due to the nature of cloud infrastructure, residual copies may persist in encrypted backup systems for up to 30 days before being fully purged. We do not retain your data after account deletion except where we are legally required to do so, such as in response to a valid court order or legal hold, as described in Section 12(B).

Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is fully secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data in transit. You are responsible for maintaining control of the phone number associated with your Account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

11. Third-Party Services and Links

The Services may contain links to third-party websites (such as event ticketing platforms or partner sites). We have no control over and are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services before submitting personal information to them.

Third-party SDKs and services integrated into our app (such as Mixpanel, AppsFlyer, Firebase, and Mapbox) may independently collect certain usage or device data as described in their own privacy policies.

You have the right to request disclosure of: (1) the categories of personal information we have collected about you; (2) the sources of that information; (3) our business purposes for collecting it; (4) the categories of third parties with whom we share it; and (5) the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.

E. Right to Access and Portability

You have the right to receive your personal information in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and to have it transmitted to a third party where technically feasible and where processing is based on your consent or a contract with you.

F. Right to Know About Sales or Sharing

You have the right to know whether we sell or share your personal information. We do not sell personal information that identifies you. We may share or sell de-identified or aggregated data derived from user activity, as described in Section 8. You may request disclosure of the categories of information shared and the categories of recipients by contacting us at admin@joinrendez.com.

G. Right to Opt Out of Sale

You have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information that identifies you. However, we may sell or share de-identified or aggregated data derived from user activity, as described in Section 8. If you wish to opt out of this practice, you may submit a request at any time by contacting us at admin@joinrendez.com with the subject line “Opt Out – De-identified Data.” We will honor all opt-out requests within 15 business days.

H. Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Information

Users may voluntarily disclose sensitive personal information, such as disability status, race or ethnicity, religion, neurodivergence, or health conditions, through self-selected hashtags on their profile. RENDEZ does not solicit this information. Where you have voluntarily disclosed sensitive personal information, you have the right to request that we limit its use to only what is necessary to provide the Services. To exercise this right, contact us at admin@joinrendez.com. You may also remove sensitive hashtags from your profile at any time within the app.

I. Right of Non-Retaliation

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights. You will not be denied services, charged different prices, or provided a different level of service as a result of exercising your rights.
